Gone are the days when having a decent smartphone means shelling out a huge amount of money out of our pockets. With the Philippines known as one of the countries with the most number of smartphone users, we’re lucky to have local smartphone manufacturers that produce quality handsets retailed at an affordable price.

When talking about competitive yet economical smartphones, we’re sure we all have one brand in our minds. Sticking to their wise spending niche, Cherry Mobile has a wide array of such smartphones. Here’s a quick take on some of them.

Unveiled as the toned-down version of the well-loved Flare S6, the Flare S6 Mini caters to those who’d want a budget phone with a decent set of specifications. The Flare S6 Mini comes in a handy build which houses its 4.5-inch screen in FWVGA resolution. Inside, this device comes with a  1.2GHz quad-core processor coupled with a combination of 512MB RAM and 4GB onboard storage expandable up to 32GB. In terms of imaging, this device comes with a 5-megapixel shooter on the rear and a 2-megapixel counterpart up front. It has an Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, plus a connectivity package of 3G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. The Cherry Mobile Flare S6 Mini is priced at P2,299.

Another lite version off the Flare series, the Flare S5 Mini, on the other hand, is priced at a more affordable tag of PhP 1,999. Carrying almost the same specs as its sibling, the Flare S6 Mini, the Flare S5 Mini also has a 4.5-inch FWVGA screen, plus similar camera duo of 5-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front. While it also has a 512MB RAM like the Flare S6 Mini, the Flare S5 Mini comes with a larger internal storage of 8GB. Running on 1,5000mAh stamina, the Flare S5 Mini operates on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and comes with connectivity options of Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, Dual SIM 3G, HSPA+, Bluetooth, plus GPS.

The Cherry Mobile Desire R7, like any other smartphone carrying the said brand name, comes as a steal for a price of P4,999. However, for those opting for a cheaper choice, the Desire R7 Mini is a considerable buy for P2,299. Flaunting a 4.0-inch IPS LCD screen, the Desire R7 Mini can easily pass as a budget favorite with its 1.3GHz Quad-core processor partnered with a 512MB RAM plus 4GB ROM expandable up to 32GB via microSD Other specs include a 2-megapixel front camera, 5-megapixel rear snapper, Android Marsmallow OS, 1,500mAh battery, plus Wi-Fi connectivity option.

Another option is the Desire R6 Mini. Like the Desire R7 Mini, this device comes with 4.0-inch LCD screen which conceals 1.3GHz Quad-core processor topped with the 512MB RAM and 8GB ROM which can be further broadened to up to 32GB. Its cameras list the same 2-megapixel selfie + 5-megapixel rear, plus an Anrdroid 6.0 Marshmallow and 1,500mAh stamina pack. The Desire R7 Mini is tagged at P1,899.
